10 Underrated Sci-Fi Sequels (That Deserve Way More Love)
7. Spider-Man 3
Sam Raimi's legendary Spider-Man franchise finally brought the wall-crawler to the big-screen in a series of films that were both incredibly innovative with the source material and very well-written on their own merit. And then the third film came along in 2007 and changed everything. A film that was criticised for having far too much going on, it ultimately resulted in the end of the series.
Now that we find ourselves over a decade removed from the situation, we can look back with a little more clarity than before and, in doing so, understand why the film was worthy of a little more praise.
Was there far too many subplots? Yes. Were there too many cooks in the kitchen? Absolutely. But there's also a lot going on that film that was overlooked. For starters, most of those multiple subplots were actually pretty engaging stories and had any of them been allowed to breathe on their own, the film could have avoided the negativity. That said, the cast was as on-point as ever and the execution of the Venom storyline wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was made out to be.
Without question one of the weaker Spider-Man movies, but certainly not the worst.
