10 Underseen Vampire Movies To Fill The True Blood Hole In Your Life
6. Rabid
Though more well-known now for dark dramas like A History of Violence and A Dangerous Method, it's hard to forget that David Cronenberg was once (and still is) the undisputed king of body horror. Hitting his peak in the late '70s and 1980s with The Fly, The Brood and Videodrome among others, the compelling grotequeness of these Cronenberg films were preceded by films on a smaller scale, if only in budget as opposed to ideas. After his first major feature Shivers came Rabid, a chilling (if somewhat schlocky) semi-slasher film featuring adult film star Marilyn Chambers as the victim of a motorcycle accident who is implanted with a blood-sucking spike that shoots out of her armpit and into other people. It's a visceral, stomach-churning concept - the unseen violence that sits within human bodies - and one that Cronenberg would return to time and again in his career.
