10 Underseen Vampire Movies To Fill The True Blood Hole In Your Life
7. Cronos
Before Guillermo del Toro struck success and fanboy fame with movies like Blade II, Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy films (not to mention the daddy of all geek catnip films, Pacific Rim), he started out making low-budget but exceptional Spanish-language horror films. The cream of these is actually his first: Cronos, a vampire story that doesn't feature any traditional vamps but does pack a bite. The story revolves an elderly antiques dealer who discovers an old scarab pendant that attaches it to himself and drastically lengthens his life, but at the cost of a newfound craving for blood. Ron Perlman features as an American thug who wants the pendant in the first of his many collaborations with del Toro. Full of the depth, creepiness and dark humour that fans of the director could expect from his later work, Cronos was and still is a strikingly original take on the genre.
