Hellraiser's climax sees Kirsty Cotton's (Ashley Laurence) murderous uncle Frank (Sean Chapman) take the guise of her father Larry (Andrew Robinson) by literally wearing Larry's skin over his own.

But before Frank can have his wicked way with Kirsty, she manages to lure him to the attic where he's ensnared by the Cenobites, who promptly sink chains into his flesh and tear him to pieces.

In the moment before Frank is killed, however, he drops the immortal Bible-referencing one-liner, "Jesus wept."

As cool and iconic as the line is, the script actually had Frank deliver a considerably less-witty riposte, simply telling Kirsty and the Cenobites, "F**k you."

As revealed in the documentary Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II, however, actor Andrew Robinson wasn't much a fan of swearing and also found the line "pedestrian," so suggested replacing it with "Jesus wept."

Writer-director Clive Barker ultimately loved the change and decided to keep it in the film, ensuring a potentially hokey sign-off from Frank transcended into one of the movie's most memorable moments.
