One of the most distinctive physical attributes of the various Ghostface killers throughout the Scream franchise is their tendency to wipe blood off their knife in-between kills, in a way that's both terrifying and totally badass.

As cool as it looks, it was originally a purely practical concern while shooting the first movie, when stunt performer Dane Farwell realised that the blood created potential continuity errors.

Farwell suggested wiping the knife after each bloody engagement to reduce blood-related continuity headaches, what with movies not being shot chronologically and the likelihood of Ghostface's knife having different amounts of blood on it between camera setups.

And like that, a signature movie moment was born, and one which received perhaps its ultimate treatment in the recent Scream VI, where two of the Ghostface killers wiped their knives in tandem.

Now whenever you see Ghostface wiping their knife, you'll know that they're doing it to give the fine folk at MovieMistakes.com one less thing to look out for.
