10 Unexpected Reasons Behind Awesome Horror Movie Moments

1. Melissa Died Because Michelle Trachtenberg Didn't Want To Survive - Black Christmas (2006)

The original script for 2006's Black Christmas remake saw the character of Melissa (Michelle Trachtenberg) being revealed to have survived her seemingly fatal encounter with killer Agnes (Dean Friss).

Agnes was supposed to mistake the unconscious Melissa for dead, allowing her to show up very much alive in the hospital at the end alongside protagonist Kelli (Katie Cassidy).

Yet this was rejected by actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who was apparently reluctant to appear in a horror movie so soon after starring in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and only agreed to star if her character was given a premature death.

The filmmakers evidently complied, and so Melissa got one of the movie's more memorable and nasty death scenes, having a chunk of her head hacked off with an ice skate by Agnes.

Better yet, Trachtenberg also filmed an alternate death scene featured in some international versions of the movie, where Agnes plucks her eyes out and eats them. Charming.
