10 Unexpectedly Awesome 2017 Movies Everyone Thought Would Suck
1. Cult Of Chucky
Why It Should've Sucked: How many good seventh entries into horror franchises can you even name, especially those that go straight-to-VOD? With its low-budget and seemingly desperate premise (two Chuckies for the price of one!), on paper this seemed destined to be a lousy misfire.
Why It Was Awesome: Though it's definitely rough around the edges, there's a surprising amount of charm to Chucky's latest adventure, thanks to an emphasis on practical doll effects, brutal gore, and a gleefully subversive, meta tone.

If series creator Don Mancini can maintain this level of grisly fun, the future's looking pretty damn bright for Chucky.
