10 Unforgettable 2017 Movie Scenes
9. No Man's Land - Wonder Woman
There is a lot of bleak social commentary running through modern blockbusters. The DC Extended Universe has been riding that train like its going out of style since 2013. However, somehow they managed to strike gold with Wonder Woman - an uplifting and heroic film that shatters the glass ceiling on the new age of Superhero movies while also proving that DC's extended universe is not quite dead. It's just resting.
The moment when Diana rises out of the trenches to cross No Man's Land was the most powerful action beat a superhero movie has delivered in years, and the scene only gets better from there. Stuffed with instantly iconic imagery - Diana shielding herself from machine gun fire, breaking a rifle across her back, or flinging multiple enemy soldiers with her lasso - this set piece shows us why Wonder Woman is the hero we need.
Also, this movie does not get enough credit for making both Rupert Gregson-Williams' soaring orchestral score and Junkie XL's metal Wonder Woman theme work perfectly in conjunction with each other. That is a near miracle in and of itself.
After Justice League came out a few months after this film, it's pretty clear the DC Extended Universe is not getting better than this anytime soon. Sorry, folks.
