5. Jim's Arm (Deep Blue Sea)
Deep Blue Sea follows a team of scientists, based on a remote former submarine refueling facility converted into a laboratory, who are searching for a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Unknown to the other scientists, one of them - Dr. Susan McAlester - violates a code of ethics and genetically engineers three mako sharks in order to increase their brain capacity so that their brain tissue can be harvested as a potential source for the cure. However, a side effects of this treatment makes the sharks smarter, faster and far more dangerous. When one of the sharks escapes and attacks a boat full of teenagers, the financial backers of the research send a corporate executive named Russel Franklin to investigate the facility. In order to prove that the research is working, the team manages to capture, subdue and remove brain tissue from the largest shark. However, whilst examining the creature, it comes round from its subdued state and Dr. Jim Whitlock, one of the researchers, is attacked by the shark and his arm is torn off.
