10 Unforgivably Bad CGI Scenes In BILLION Dollar Movies

6. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace - Battle Of Naboo

We're not here to pile on George Lucas' long-awaited return to a galaxy far, far away - heaven knows enough of that has been done over the intervening decades - but it's hard to argue that the director and his tech team at Lucasfilm brought together some then-cutting edge visual effects work for the first of the prequel series charting the origins of the Skywalker Saga.

Some of it still holds up pretty well to this day - but some of its doesn't. Witness the march of the Trade Federation's forces over the lush plains of Naboo, to face the Gungan army, with General Jar Jar Binks near its helm.

It should be a dramatically sweeping moment - but the fact that the battle droids' tanks look to be superimposed brownish cutouts on a Windows 97 background is a travesty. No wonder they lost.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
