Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy is loved by fans of the superhero genre to this day. Whilst Spider-Man 3 suffered from too much studio intervention, all three films are still fun to watch.
The music is far superior to anything featured in the subsequent Spider-Man movies, and the action scenes are also terrific throughout. Though it’s debatable which version of Peter Parker is the best one, Toby Maguire is universally loved by fans of the genre.
However, this doesn’t mean any of the films are perfect. Even Spider-Man 2 – which is often cited as one of the best superhero movies of all time – has some unintentionally funny moments in it. Such moments may come in the form of physical comedy, an illogical character decision, or even bizarre dialogue.
Whilst it would be wrong to say these moments are common, each movie certainly isn't lacking when it comes to unintentional humour. And (unsurprisingly) Spider-Man 3 is definitely the most hilarious of the three…
10. Eddie Brock Goes To Church – Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 is an entertaining yet flawed movie, and the addition of Venom on top of the other two villains was not a wise move.
In the closing stages, Eddie Brock visits a church and asks God to kill Peter Parker. The comedy of this moment arises from the irony of Brock going to a holy place of worship to make such a dark request.
What’s more, the fact he says everything out loud makes it even more amusing. Anyone with even a modicum of self-awareness wouldn’t say something so ridiculous out loud, even if they had been humiliated.
If Brock’s anguish and rage had been shown purely through facial expressions and posture rather than dialogue, this scene might have been worthwhile. Unfortunately, what we got was laughably stupid.
