Peter’s behaviour whilst he’s under the influence of the symbiote is the most infamous part of Raimi’s trilogy. In fairness, there are certain scenes where the filmmakers were intending to be at least slightly comedic. Peter’s dancing through the streets, for instance, is clearly meant to be amusing.

However, there are other aspects of Peter’s behaviour that were seriously misjudged. His emo-style haircut is ridiculous, and some of his dialogue is equally laughable. ‘I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye’ and ‘Thanks, hot legs’ are memorable for all the wrong reasons.

The scene in the jazz club tops off the whole fiasco with a laugh-out-loud dance sequence which involves Peter making a complete fool of himself for several minutes. Though the point of this scene is to demonstrate the influence of the symbiote, Peter’s actions are so bizarre it’s impossible to take anything seriously.

Ironically, this part of Spider-Man 3 is one of the most enjoyable moments of the whole trilogy. It was so poorly judged that it’s impossible not to relish every second of it.
