2. Brad Pitt - Meet Joe Black
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VDdN_b6TjYo Meet Joe Black is a tough film; it's long, it tries to tackle heady issues, and it's frustratingly well-acted given how inconsistent the material is. Whatever your take on this divisive pic, there's little denying that Brad Pitt's demise in it is one of the most poorly-judged deaths in recent cinema history, if only through the ridiculously over-the-top method by which it occurs. After standing in the street for what seems like forever, Pitt is mowed down - or rather, up - by one car, only to bounce onto another and be knocked about the screen until he finally hits the floor. What makes this scene funner is the appalling quality of the CGI; despite the sounds of the cars screeching to a halt, the cars are clearly not slowing down, there is no damage to the cars, and Pitt's flying corpse has clearly just been cheaply superimposed over the top. Not that we're advocating actually running someone over, but it looks so third-rate and nasty. One can't imagine Pitt looks back fondly on that scene, but it did add a little humour to what can be a pretty dour film at times.
