10 Unintentionally Hilarious Movies You Can't Help But Laugh At

8. The Happening (2008)

The Happening It was with this misguided masterpiece that M. Night Shyamalan announced himself as the modern king of the "so bad it€™s hilarious". Someone should have shut this down at the casting; it features Mark Wahlberg as the world€™s most unconvincing science teacher and his wife, a wide eyed Zooey Deschanel trying her best not to be twee. That clearly passed the rigorous testing phase, but quite how anyone then someone greenlit a plot that involves the world committing suicide because mother nature felt mean is beyond me. And of course the hilarity doesn't even there, because humanity doesn€™t just take a few pills and go to sleep quietly on the sofa... oh no, instead they throw themselves under lawn mowers, as plants enact their bloody revenge. John Leguizmo tries to out-bad-act Wahlberg here as part of a cast of loony characters, but Betty Buckler wins the award for casually saying €˜Why you eye€™in my lemonade?" from her rocking chair. Every line here seems to be delivered with a dumb incomprehension, with barely anyone reacting with any sort of authenticity.
