10 Unknown Actors Who Kicked Serious Ass In Major Films

3. Nick Frost - Shaun Of The Dead

Nick Frost has launched a career by working alongside long-term friends, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. Together they started on cult-comedy series 'Spaced' where Pegg's character fakes being in a relationship with a woman so they can afford to live in their London apartment. Nick Frost featured in a supporting role alongside him but unlike Pegg €“ who'd been working in British television for several years €“ Frost was not yet a household name when Shaun of the Dead hit cinemas. However, his performance as laid-back slacker Ed earned him cult-comedy status in Britain and abroad. The fart gags, video-game playing and general apathy to any sort of authority or adult responsibilities struck a chord with viewers who found that this character epitomized everything they wished they could have in their life €“ even during a zombie apocalypse. He balanced Keanu Reeves-style action violence with a touchingly sweet story of friendship alongside Pegg and was by far and away the biggest contributor to laugh out loud moments during the film. As a result he was nominated by the British Independent Film Awards as 'Most Promising Newcomer' and hasn't let them down with continued comedy hits such as Hot Fuzz, Paul and The Boat That Rocked and he'll soon jump into leading man territory with the headlining role in the upcoming Cuban Fury.
