2. David Schwimmer - Agent J (Men In Black)
There is one major difference between Will Smith and David Schwimmer, and it's that one of these men is considered to be the coolest dudes on the planet, and one is not. That's not to say David Schwimmer doesn't have his own talents (he was the best character in
Friends, to my mind), but he is not Agent J from
Men In Black. And yet the gangly goofball was originally first in line to assume such a role, one that would have pitted him alongside "frowny man" Tommy Lee Jones. The movie certainly would've been a totally different experience had Schwimmer not declined the role - and one that I struggle to imagine would have had much lasting appeal. Can you imagine David Schwimmer turning to the camera, putting on his shades and saying, "You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look
good." You can't, can you? You also can't imagine him doing the
Men In Black dance, or bantering properly with Tommy Lee Jones... or making this movie a box office smash.
