10 Unluckiest MCU Characters

3. Thor

Jeremy Renner Hawkeye
Marvel Studios

There is a poignant moment in Avengers: Infinity War where Rocket acts the captain with Thor and tries to help pick him up from a rough spot. However, it’s almost made into a joke as he lists off everything and everyone that the God of Thunder has lost.

His mother was dead, his father was dead, he broke up with the love of his life, his best friends were dead, his brother was dead, his sister was dead, he had lost an eye, his homeworld had been destroyed, and he had lost Mjolnir. Much of that was within just the last few weeks.

Since then, he blamed himself for not saving the world when he should have gone for the head. Realistically, that blow to the chest would have killed most people, he just chose to do it to one of the few who could survive it. So on top of all of this loss, as well as the later death of Jane Foster, he had to deal with a vicious spiral into depression.

The only reason that Thor isn’t higher on this list is that up until Loki’s first betrayal during his MCU debut, his life had been full of glory and revelry. That’s 1500 years of relatively plain sailing give or take, whereas the next two names have seen their lives turned upside down ever since they were children.
