10 Unresolved Plot Points From The First Era Of DCEU Movies
4. What Was The Deal With That Knightmare Sequence?
We referenced this talking about the Flash's trip back in time, but that Knightmare sequence will never not be baffling. Set in some sort of desolate future ruled over by Darkseid, Batman was shown to have assembled an army, and on the hunt for Kryptonite to put an end to the Man of Steel once and for all.
After that's revealed to be a trap, the Caped Crusader falls into the hands of Superman and soldiers bearing his logo, and after alluding to Batman having let someone die (likely Lois), this villainous version of Clark Kent murders Bruce Wayne with his heat vision. The whole thing was kind of cool, but it also stuck out like a sore thumb in an already busy movie as something that didn't really add up.
Zack Snyder no doubt had plans to explore this down the line, but the significance of this sequence in the movie, as well as plans for it to be explored, will never be revealed. The filmmaker has only ever briefly alluded to his plans for this timeline, and so it remains confusing and hard to understand.
