Suicide Squad confirmed that Harley Quinn was an accomplice in the murder of Robin, though that reveal came our way courtesy of a blink and you'd miss it graphic on screen. It was obvious from the start that The Joker killed him (just look at the graffiti on the suit), but we don't know how, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has only further complicated matters.

Given how much this movie was inspired by Frank Miller's comics, one prevailing theory was that the "Damaged" Joker was actually Dick, though that's seemingly been debunked since then, and we're left in the dark regardless.

Batman v Superman is a movie which constantly teases the Caped Crusader's past, but never actually addresses any of it in a meaningful way. Robin's defaced costume being on display in the Batcave should mean a lot, but it instead boiled down to little more than a throwaway Easter Egg. The way Robin died was never revealed, and never will be now Ben Affleck has moved on from the role.
