10 Unused Film Endings That Were Better Than The Real Thing

8. Ash Messes Up Again In Army Of Darkness

He may have totally boned the Spider-Man franchise in the space of three movies, but before the bright lights of Hollywood had dazzled him too much Sam Raimi was just a young, enterprising filmmaker who wasn't afraid to bash his friends about the head with wooden beams and then cover them in gore. Hard though it is to believe, the director of popcorn hits started off in grimy horror. The Evil Dead films remain classics of their genre, as much for their free-wheeling comedic antics as their scares, which is mostly down to the infinite charm of actor Bruce Campbell as Ash, the poor schmuck who keeps falling foul of the demonic Deadites. In Army Of Darkness Ash finds himself transported back in time, dealing with the monsters in medieval times. The theatrically released ending sees him returning to the present at the end; originally, though, he was supposed to have ballsed up his journey home and awakened in a post-apocalyptic Earth. Dark, but hilarious!
