10 Unused Film Endings That Were Better Than The Real Thing

5. Not Even Ripley Escaped Alien Originally

Alien is about as close to a perfect film as you're going to get. The coming together of a star-studded bunch of creative talent whose ideas all gelled perfectly to create a truly unique, absolutely terrifying slice of sci-fi horor cinema is a feat that's been otherwise unparalleled, much as Ridley Scott tried to recapture the magic with his belated follow-up/prequel Prometheus. It wasn't a smooth ride to that first Alien film, however. In fact, before Scott came on board, the script was a very different beast indeed: in fact, Dan O'Bannon's script had the unfortunate, B-movie-esque title of Star Beast. By the time Scott and Sigourney Weaver arrived, though, everything was cool. Scott has since tweaked with the original film with a director's cut, but there's still one interesting little difference between the original script and what ended up being shot. Notably, the final confrontation between Ripley and the alien ended with Weaver biting it, and the alien setting a course for Earth...imitating her voice.
