10 Unused Superhero Movie Designs That Are Better Than What We Got

7. Robin

This concept art €“ often wrongly attributed to Tim Burton€™s 1989 Batman film €“ is actually taken from an early development phase Of Batman Forever. Before the campiness of Joel Schumacher€™s vision had fully taken over, costume designer Bob Ringwood came up with this dark Robin design that has clear echoes of Burton€™s gloomier version of the Gotham vigilante dress code. Ringwood€™s early ideas featured loose hair lolloping over the top of Robin€™s eye mask, and a far less light colour palette featuring only the darkest hues of blue and red alongside an abundance of black. The suit is also less obvious in its enhancement of Dick Grayson€™s muscles, and his groin bulge. Essentially, it€™s just less camp than the one we got. It seems to play up the idea of Robin as a younger Batman, rather than a kid sidekick with a colourful costume. Additionally, it doesn€™t feature any Bat-nipples, which is a massive improvement on the Robin suits Chris O€™Donnell eventually wore.
