10 Unused Villains For DC Movies (And Who Should Play Them)

9. Brainiac (Patrick Stewart)

If Henry Cavill's solo Superman cinematic series continues after Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Metropolis€™ Man of Steel will also be needing some new adversaries to battle against. One that we haven€™t seen on the big screen before is Brainiac, an extra-terrestrial android who has recurred throughout DC history since his introduction in 1958. In the current New 52 continuity of the comics, Braniac is a scientist called Vril Drox who miniaturises major cities with the help of highly advanced computers and a sizeable robot army €“ before leaving the rest of each planet he targets to die at the hands of The Multitude, a fifth-dimensional destructive force that Drox himself accidentally unleashed during an experiment. The interesting thing about Brainiac is that he isn€™t always portrayed as a villain. Yes, he€™s shrinking and stealing cities, but he€™s doing it to try and preserve a planet€™s culture before it€™s destroyed by a bigger, more mysterious threat. This could make him Superman€™s most ethically uncertain screen enemy of all time. But you€™d need an actor who could portray a righteous being who thinks he€™s doing the right thing as well as seeming threatening. Patrick Stewart could certainly do both (as proven by his contrasting Picard and Locutus performances in Star Trek: The Next Generation). And with a little CGI assistance, he could also look perfect for the role.
