10 Upcoming 2015 Movies That Won't Make Their Money Back
8. Tomorrowland
Odds are that Tomorrowland - which stars George Clooney as an enigmatic inventor of sorts - will turn out to be a good movie; something akin to Walt Disney's Inception. That reasoning, of course, relies on the ever consistent director Brad Bird, who - across the span of his career - has never put a foot wrong: from The Iron Giant to Ratatouille to Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, this guy always knows how to deliver what is asked of him. But Tomorrowland is a bit of an oddity, in the sense that Disney are trying to "market" the movie by way of secrecy: nobody really knows what Tomorrowland is about, and the trailers are murky with plot details at best. Though this approach to getting audiences riled up and curious sometimes works (take Cloverfield, for example), Tomorrowland isn't conjuring up a similar level of hype because nobody seems to know what it "is," exactly. The budget for the movie hasn't been made public, but going by the amount of SFX work going on in the trailer )and the fact that George Clooney is in the lead role) ensures this sci-fi blockbuster cost at least $200 million. Playing it vague 'til release day isn't going to get people into theatres, though: they need a tad more to go on.
