10 Upcoming 2015 Movies That Won't Make Their Money Back
9. Mad Max: Road Fury
People are expecting a lot from Mad Max: Road Fury come release day. Why, exactly, isn't entirely clear, though it would be absolutely wonderful if - all said and done - it didn't wind up as just another unnecessary spin-off/reboot prequel along with all the others. Chances are that it will, of course, because that's the way it always goes, right? Why won't Mad Max: Road Fury make its money back, you're wondering? Well, had it been rendered on a budget of, say, $80 million, there's a good chance that - regardless of its quality - the flick would at least cross over the $100 million mark on account of its nostalgia factor alone. But Mad Max: Road Fury has a budget of $150 million dollars, which seems to be insanely high for a film that nobody was really pining for in the first place. Seriously. If it turns out to be awful (and going by the trailer, this film - which stars Tom Hardy in the titular role - could go either way), negative word of mouth will probably prevent it from making back its budget. If it turns out to be good, well... does it really have what it takes, in 2015, to bring audiences into the cinema in droves? Mad Max isn't exactly Alien or Indiana Jones or Star Wars. The studio must be worried about this film; how could they not be?
