10 Upcoming 2015 Movies That Won't Make Their Money Back
3. Spy
Hey, Hollywood. Stop trying to make Melissa McCarthy happen. Seriously: she's a talented actress and is always great in secondary roles of the comic kind, but her last few movies sucked and her latest - Spy - looks to be following in that tradition. They say don't judge a book by its cover, but the trailer for Spy feels tired and uninventive, so just forget about that rule for a moment. Just when you thought that Hollywood was done with the whole spy spoof thing, after all, along comes this movie with is well-worn hi-jinks. Do we need another flick in this vein? Who is going to take the time to get up off the sofa, drive to the theatre, and excitedly hand over their cash to see this movie? Nobody, that's who. Don't worry that it co-stars Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Miranda Hart, Allison Janney and Jude Law... it's all a clever ploy, people. Going on the trailer, then, it's hard to view this overtly expensive comedy (it has to have cost over $50 million, given the fact that it was shot abroad and features a bunch of major stars) as anything other than a future flop.
