10 Upcoming 2016 Movies You Should Really Give The Benefit Of The Doubt

9. James Bobin Is A Great Director - Alice Through The Looking Glass

Release Date: May 27, 2016

Disney's 2011 remake of Alice in Wonderful was a terrible, terrible movie; ugly, poorly written and yawn-inducing from start to finish, it signalled the end of director Tim Burton as a creative artist.

This year, the non-awaited sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass, is set to hit theatres everywhere, and though its seems instinctive to hate on the film and everything that it stands for before it comes out, it doesn't seem fair to pre-judge movie that is actually being helmed by a rather talented filmmaker: Mr. James Bobin.

Bobin's filmic output to date includes both of the recent Muppets movies, The Muppets and The Muppets Most Wanted. He's also the co-creator of the hilarious TV show that is Flight of the Concords, all of which stand to prove that he's got a real knack for comedy.

As such, Alice Through The Looking Glass has more than a fighting chance of actually turning out all right with Bobin's comic sensibilities driving it (even if, in places, it does look to be as annoying as the first film - especially with Sacha Baron Cohen's irksome villain).
