10 Upcoming Blockbuster Sequels That Will Make Or Break Their Franchise

8. Mad Max: Fury Road

Reportedly set between Mad Max and The Road Warrior, Fury Road is a huge make or break film for the Mad Max franchise - but one that has some really strong word of mouth and fantastic trailers riding behind it. Essentially, it looks like George Miller went all out, and a little crazy, on Fury Road. The cars look sick. The action looks incredible (and legible - take note, other action directors, if Miller can make cars crashing into one another and exploding easy to follow, almost any action sequence can do it!), and the characters look like the nightmares of a prisoner locked away in some decrepit asylum. It's still make or break, however, because it will have been thirty years since the last film (1985's Beyond Thunderdome) in the franchise was released. Mel Gibson was either too old or too crazy to play the role of Max (there was a point, years back, when the production was going to use him once more), and Tom Hardy has stepped in to drive the last of the V8 Interceptors. Will fans accept the new Max? Do they still care? The trailer got a lot of buzz, and besides a bit of iffy CGI, the majority of it looks impeccable. If the film bombs, however, don't expect another Mad Max film for a long time. If it succeeds - bring on Furiosa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWNWi-ZWL3c
