10 Upcoming Blockbuster Sequels That Will Make Or Break Their Franchise
6. X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Days Of Future Past did a lot of things right. First, it united the old and new casts; second, it wrote off or undid every bit of damage (a considerable amount) done to the series by Brett Ratner in X-Men: Last Stand; and third, it made excellent use of Evan Peters as Quicksilver despite some cynicism. All that in itself is a huge win, but whether the series can continue down that path will only be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse, teased at the end of Days Of Future Past, and shortly after online by director Bryan Singer. Will the series have the original cast back again? Were they the reason Days Of Future Past was so well received? Hugh Jackman has confirmed he has had talks about returning for Apocalypse, and writer Simon Kinberg used the plural form when talking about original cast members returning for the film, which indicates there will be others. Plans can change, but it's a crucial time for the series. It's one of the few Marvel entities not currently in the hands of Marvel themselves, and has arguably made the biggest comeback for Fox in 2014.
