IT may have only released last week, but it's already proving to be this year's finest horror movie, and indeed, possibly one of the best films of the year all around. A lot of that success must be attributed to the film's director, Andrés Muschietti, who will no doubt be coveted by a plethora of studios going forward.

Muschietti had previously worked on Mama with Guillmero Del Toro, and his roots are firmly in the horror genre. Considering how Lionsgate have already tapped Neil Marshall - another horror movie director - for Hellboy, it would make sense to keep the theme going for the rest of their burgeoning cinematic universe.

Indeed, if a B.P.R.D. spin-off is planned (and we surely hope it is) then Muschietti would be a brilliant pick for the role. Mike Mignola's original Hellboy series and the B.P.R.D. comics that followed all took place in a certain point in history, and IT's feel for the late eighties zeitgeist is undoubtedly one of the reasons why it's resonated in the way it has.

If Muschietti could capture the same historic feel for a more horrific comic book tale, then it could just make Dark Horse a force to be reckoned with on the big screen. Granted, it's possible we could just be getting ahead of ourselves, but still, IT's great, and Hellboy sounds even better. Make it happen Lionsgate!
