10 Upcoming Comic Book Films (And Who Should Direct Them)

3. Justice League Dark: Guillmero Del Toro

Look, we know that del Toro dropped out of the project a few years back, but considering how it's been stuck in development hell since, surely it's time to admit he's the only man for the job?

Since its announcement in 2012, Justice League Dark has seen plenty of rewrites, hirings, firings and resignations - so much so that, if it were any other project, it would probably have been considered a lost cause. WB are all too aware of the potential for a supernatural comic book feature to bang at the box office however, and so it makes sense that they're persevering in spite of the many developmental issues that have plagued the project for the last five or so years.

However, maybe - just maybe - it's time to concede that the film simply needs del Toro to succeed. The director lives and breathes horror both in front and behind the camera, and regardless of the fact that it could take literally years more for it to see the light of day, he's still the ideal candidate to guide the project to completion.

We hear that the script is currently undergoing rewrites, which implies that WB are still pressing ahead with the film as a del Toro-less one, but - in the slim chance that the director could return - we have to hope that they have an older draft lying around somewhere.
