10 Upcoming Comic Book Films That Will Probably Be Terrible

Maybe it is about time Hugh Jackman retired...

Once you get on the comic book movie hype machine, it's difficult to get off. It's a treadmill that seems to speed up every year, dangling the false carrot of hope that the next Hollywood blockbuster will be the one that transcends the genre, the next Dark Knight. Chances are they'll just continue being quite fun, often forgettable action films. That's not how the hype machine works, however. Oh no, you must be equally as pumped for the next Avengers as you are for a Doctor Strange film, or as you are for Batman V Superman as for another crack at Green Lantern (which didn't go particularly well the first time around). Everything is marketed as being the BEST THING EVER. Which they categorically cannot be, because there can only be one best thing ever. And that thing can only be judged so when it's placed against other, far lesser works. Casting an eye over the slate of upcoming comic book films that are in development, or even being filmed, suggests a fair few will be lesser works. For every slickly-produced Marvel product there is, after all, a lower-budget pretender to the throne. For ever good X-Men film, there's about a half-dozen crummy ones. And just because you pit two big heroes against each other doesn't mean you have a good movie. Here are ten upcoming comic book films that will probably be terrible.
