Alternative and parallel universes and worlds have been increasingly popular in Hollywood movies since 1999's The Matrix - it's a strange phenomenon in the sense that audiences go to the cinema to escape from their every day lives only to watch characters in movies also seeking to escape. Loose meta-readings aside, Disney's next big upcoming feature film also looks set to deal with the notion of two worlds existing alongside one another, with Britt Robertson taking on the role of young girl Casey Newton, who meets up with a disgruntled inventor (George Clooney) after coming across a strange artefact which reveals another world when touched. While often the lack of pre-release information can be cause for some concern, in the case of Tomorrowland the assurance that it could well turn out to be great comes from the fact that Brad Bird is the director. From Iron Giant to the latest Mission: Impossible film, he's proven himself to be at the top of the game when it comes to delivering solid, entertaining and great looking blockbusters.
