10 Upcoming Film Reboots Nobody Asked For

9. Jumanji

kirsten_dunst_jumanji Jumanji may not be the most groundbreaking film, stuck in the midst of an underwhelming decade of cinema where many of the films were merely adequate, but it's still one of those films that you'll end up watching until the end if you come across it on a lazy sunday afternoon with nothing else to do. It may have split critics down the middle, but it was a huge hit at the box office. It's a classic childhood movie with flaws that could be easily forgiven as long as you didn't notice them until you grew up. Very few details are currently known, apart from that - in August of last year - Matthew Tolmach (The Amazing Spider-Man) was confirmed to produce alongside the original film's producer William Teitler, which does give it a bit of hope. No casting news has been announced and rumours are pretty scarce. It's unlikely that they're going to find someone as charismatic and likeable as Robin Williams, though. Justification for this remake comes from the argument that they want to update Jumanji for a newer generation. But considering that the original Jumanji isn't even that old, do we really need this? Although the effects might be a bit dated, for the time they were extremely impressive, and it doesn't seem worthwhile to remake an entire film for the purpose of updating the visual effects. Even when the remake does hit cinemas, younger viewers unacquainted with the story would still probably find more joy in the original, after all.
