Best known for his romantic dramas starring Tilda Swinton, Italian director Luca Guadagnino once again teams up with the Oscar winner for a remake of that most romantic of all Italian movies – Dario Argento’s Suspiria.

The ultimate litmus test for viewers who prefer form over content, Argento’s movie is one of the most stylish gorefests you’ll ever see, with brilliant camerawork (by Luciano Tovoli, who also shot The Passenger) enriching a plot that’s best described as “senseless.” To make sure that fans of the original welcome the remake with open arms, Guadagnino has also cast 50 Shades Of Grey’s Dakota Johnson as the heroine.

The filmmaker claims that his version will take place in Berlin circa 1977 and be heavily influenced by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, the German filmmaker known for The Marriage Of Maria Braun and Ali: Fear Eats The Soul. It’s due for release in 2017, so start sharpening your knives now.
