For casual fans, it's nuts to realise there has been a whopping ten Hellraiser movies to date, with the most recent feature being 2018's Hellraiser: Judgment.

Unfortunately, Judgment, like the vast majority of these ten, was a swing and a miss from a once beloved franchise. It's not that people no longer like the Hellraiser series, of course, but more than this franchise hasn't served up anything of any real quality since 1992's Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth.

At present, Hellraiser is in the midst of being rebooted for both the big and small screen. While The Night House Trio's David Truckner has been tasked with directing a cinematic reimagining, more intriguing is what lies ahead for this property on TV.

Not just is Hellraiser getting a TV series, but HBO are handling said series, with Godzilla: King of the Monsters' Michael Dougherty, Falling Skies' Mark Verheiden and Halloween's David Gorden Green all involved.

While it's not yet been made official, the major rumour (as per The Illuminerdi) is that Tenet, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'s Elizabeth Debecki is being lined up to play a gender-swapped Pinhead. If this does indeed come off, it would absolutely be one way to freshen up an IP that has long been stagnant.
