1. Big Trouble In Little China
Everyone loves Big Trouble in Little China. Everybody loves The Rock. Still, that doesn't mean that these highly beloved entities should be thrown into the mixer together. When the news came earlier in 2015 that Big Trouble in Little China had even been considered for remake, it hit fans as something of a shock - regardless of Dwayne Johnson's involvement. After all, the movie is pretty much a cult film and is perhaps one of John Carpenter's lesser known pictures as far as mainstream audiences are concerned (that's right: this is John Carpenter's second remake on this list also starring Kurt Russell). Thing is, Big Trouble in Little China is a parody; it's a homage to silly kung-fu flicks. Remaking a movie that never took itself seriously in the first place seems like an exercise in futility, because where do you go with something like that? And as nice a guy as Dwayne Johnson is (he has stated that he wants John Carpenter involved), he's no Jack Burton. How does Carpenter feel about the possibility of a remake, then? Is he furious? Is he angry that somebody is messing with his legacy? Uh, no: Im ambivalent about a remake, he said. On the other hand, it depends on how much they pay me. Still, if the other Carpenter remakes are anything to go by - Assault on Precinct 13, The Thing and The Fog - it's probably better to nip this one in the bud before it's too late. You've been warned.
