10 Upcoming Movie Remakes That Must Be Stopped

3. Jumanji

It being a CG-addled kids' film from the mid-'90s, Jumanji isn't quite up the the standard as some of the other movies on this list, and yet the idea of remaking it - especially in the wake of Robin Williams' untimely death - feels like an inherently blasphemous one. You can understand why Hollywood might want to give Jumanji (which was based on the children's book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg) another shot, given that it has a wonderful, movie-worthy premise and allows for the kind of large-scale scenes of jungle-based peril that always looks great in a trailer (kids love that stuff, don't you know?). But Jumanji is kind of a nostalgic classic - the original incarnation was a total blast to sit through, mostly thanks to Robin Williams' hilarious performance as Alan Parrish, a man who has been trapped in a board game for twenty-six years. Even Bradley Pierce, the actor who played young Peter in the original flick, has written off the idea of a remake, deeming it as "unnecessary and kind of insulting." Are Hollywood really that desperate for ideas? The saddest thing here is that it might be way too late to stop this one from happening: the studio has confirmed a release date and everything (the end of 2016, if you're wondering).
