10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Delayed So Long We Stopped Caring

7. 300: Rise of an Empire (7 years)

300: Rise of an EmpirePrevious Release: 300, released March 2007. The Sequel: 300: Rise of an Empire, due out in March 2014, delayed from August 2013. Alright, so this is actually a prequel, but it was originally envisioned as a sequel, and is nevertheless going to be seeking the same audience as the original, eager to see another 2-hour orgy of gratuitous violence and nudity. The thing is, 300 was a box office smash 7 years ago, and one has to wonder, how the Hell did it take so long to put this thing together? Once it was established that the film would be a prequel - as was probably the sensible option, to be fair - things should have moved forward quickly, as casting didn't require waiting around for many actors from the original film (it's a story totally separate from the Battle of Thermopylae). It's easy to imagine that Zack Snyder's departure to direct Man of Steel likely slowed things down, as a new director had to be sought out, incredulously deciding on Noam Murro, a man who has directed one dramedy (Smart People) and no action whatsoever. Had this one come out around 2010-2011, we'd probably be game, but haven't all the teenagers who loved the original grown out of it a little by now?
