10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Delayed So Long We Stopped Caring

2. Finding Dory (12.5 years)

Finding DoryPrevious Release: Finding Nemo, released May 2003. The Sequel: Finding Dory, due out November 2015. I think it's safe to say that of all the Pixar films you could conceivably make a sequel to, Finding Nemo is right at the bottom of the list; it's a self-contained story that's completely resolved by the end, and leaves little room for a continuation. Of course, the over $900 million box office gross says otherwise, yet it's just surprising that it took Pixar so long to maneuver this dubious sequel, lazily titled Finding Dory, into production. Had Pixar struck while the iron was hot back in, say, 2006 or 2007, we might have been more on board with it, but over a decade later, are there really many people who want to see this one happen? Furthermore, with Nemo himself still not confirmed to return, it's hard to get all that excited about it.
