1. Independence Day 2 (19 years)
Previous Release: Independence Day, released July 1996.
The Sequel: Independence Day 2, penned in for July 2015, almost 20 years after the original film. The idea has been kicked around so much over the years that we'd all pretty much abandoned hope of it ever happening, and frankly, is it that great an idea anyway? Will Smith isn't returning because he's "too expensive", though Bill Pullman has been confirmed for a role, and director Roland Emmerich is reportedly trying to bring Jeff Goldblum back as well. The alien invasion movie has been near-enough exhausted by this point; is another effects-heavy, cheesy corn-fest really what we need in the blockbuster landscape? I'm not convinced.
