10 Upcoming Movie Sequels Everyone Will Ignore
9. Hellraiser: Judgment
The absolute pits in cheapo horror sequels, Hellraiser #10 pulls off the impossible and manages to make even its shot-in-Romania predecessors look good. Those movies had reasonable budgets, recognizable faces (including a young Henry Cavill) and some style to mask the fact that we weren’t seeing anything new, but all Judgment serves up is barrel scrapings.
Playing like a Z-grade episode of Black Mirror, the plot involves a trio of detectives (including a burnt-out veteran and a smoking hot female sidekick) investigating a series of murders and before you can remember if that was plot of Hellraiser: Inferno, they’re dragged into a series of supernatural events that includes supporting roles for Heather Langenkamp (Nancy in A Nightmare On Elm Street) and John Gulager, who also directed Children Of The Corn: Runaway.
With its emphasis on torture, there’s more than a whiff of a franchise long past its sell by date to this latest installment, as though the filmmakers didn’t realize the torture porn crowd had grown up and embraced movies like Get Out. Vote with your feet, people, and maybe they won’t make another one.
