10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Are A Really Bad Idea

Here's an especially weird one.

George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead is the movie that put the zombie film on the map, and more than 50 years since its 1968 release remains one of the greatest entries into the subgenre.

Due to the film being in the public domain, a ridiculous number of sequels, remakes, and spin-offs - both official and not - have been produced over the decades, but it was recently confirmed that a big-budget sequel authorised by Romero's estate is currently in development.

Rising horror filmmaker Nikyatu Jusu (Nanny) will helm while LaToya Morgan (The Walking Dead) will write the script, but details otherwise remain incredibly scarce.

Yet considering that Romero's original film ended with every single major character dead, where exactly is there to go? Is this going to basically be a sequel in name only that uses the Night of the Living Dead branding to tell a totally new story? It's tough to see it going any other way.

Village Roadshow Pictures is hoping that the film might rejuvenate interest in Romero's undead franchise and open the door for more sequels, but honestly, the zombie genre is so egregiously oversaturated these days that it might well be best left alone.
