8. Beverly Hills Cop IV

Every long-dormant franchise with even the slightest hint of earning potential is never truly left to die on the Hollywood scrapheap, and Beverly Hills Cop IV is the latest in a long line of seemingly-abandoned sequels that has found itself being resurrected.

The fact that we still haven't seen Axel Foley on our screens since 1994 despite countless attempts over the intervening decades would make it seem as though all of the hassle and struggles in development hell might not be worth it, but Netflix are footing the bill for this one and everyone knows they have an endless supply of cash to burn.

The presence of Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah is admittedly encouraging, but having only recently embarked on the comeback trail thanks to his barnstorming turn in Dolemite Is My Name, Eddie Murphy already seems alarmingly keen to return to the well already with Coming 2 America and Beverly Hills Cop IV.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
