10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Are Only Going To Disappoint You
1. Indiana Jones 5
We waited almost 20 years for a fourth Indiana Jones adventure, and while Kingdom of the Crystal Skull isn't one of the worst movies ever made as some corners of the internet would have you believe, it is still the worst installment in the franchise by an immeasurable distance.
With Disney now in control of the rights, of course the series was going to continue, but at this point they should really just can the entire thing because the signs are not looking good for fans of cinema's favorite fedora enthusiast. For one thing, Steven Spielberg is no longer directing, which is tantamount to sacrilege for an Indy flick, and while James Mangold is a very good director, it just won't feel like a true continuation without The Beard behind the camera.
By the time Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters in July 2022, if it even makes that date given Crystal Skull's turbulent time in development hell, Harrison Ford will be 80 years old and still playing the same character that was talking about his mileage over 40 years previously.
Watching a stunt double and mountains of CGI fill in for an octogenarian actor isn't the legacy that Indiana Jones deserves, and maybe if we're lucky there will be a couple more delays and Disney and Lucasfilm will just pull the plug on the franchise altogether.
