10 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Are Only Going To Disappoint You
3. Deadpool 3
The Merc with a Mouth's third solo adventure is officially in active development under his new corporate overlords at Disney and Marvel Studios, but there are huge doubts surrounding their ability to handle a character like Deadpool.
The elephant in the room is obviously the R-rating, which is something both the Mouse House and the MCU seem to have little interest in pursuing for any of their notoriously family-friendly output. Then there's the question of how a foul-mouthed, self-aware and fourth-wall breaking antihero with a penchant for violence could fit into the mythology that Kevin Feige has worked so hard to build over the last decade-plus.
Ryan Reynolds spent years trying to bring the character to the big screen, and has acted as the main creative driving force behind the franchise as star, producer and even co-writer of Deadpool 2, which is a level of creative control that not even Robert Downey Jr. was afforded during his time as part of the MCU.
The end result could unfortunately turn out to be a watered-down, homogenized and PG-13 rated Deadpool 3 that strips away everything that made Wade Wilson so popular in the first place in an effort to squash the irreverent superhero into the MCU's established in-house style.
