10 Upcoming Movies Everybody Will Watch With Hidden Agendas

1. Rocketman

Rocketman film
Paramount Pictures

Why You Should Watch It: Taron Egerton is an absolute dead-ringer for a young Elton John, and the teaser trailer suggests that this biopic should be a suitably flamboyant window into the earlier life of the pop legend.

Why You'll Actually Watch It: So you can complain online about it basically being another Bohemian Rhapsody: a competent yet by-the-numbers biopic which brushes its central figure's gayness under the carpet in order to cynically appeal to a wider audience.

It's an especially valid concern as Rocketman's being directed by Dexter Fletcher, who stepped in to helm the last few weeks of Bohemian Rhapsody's production after Bryan Singer was fired.

Granted, Fletcher had virtually no creative input on the movie coming in so late, but it also doesn't inspire much hope that he'd push back against studio execs wanting to sanitise the thornier aspects of the singer's private life.

Will you be able to watch any of these upcoming movies without prejudice? Shout it out in the comments!
