10 Upcoming Movies NOBODY Actually Wants To See
4. The Lion King Prequel
As an experiment in VFX technology, The Lion King was a masterpiece. However, despite utilising state-of-the-art technology which delivered incredible lifelike animals, the 2019 movie was basically just the cartoon with better visuals. That led to a lot of complaints from fans of the franchise, but with a huge box office haul, it's a well Disney is deciding to return to.
This time, however, it's going to be a prequel because... well, everyone needs to know the origin story of Mufasa and Scar, right?
Nope. While it will be good to follow an original story in this photorealistic world, it's clearly going to fill in gaps that don't need to be filled, and it's not exactly tough to figure out that Scar will likely be portrayed as a sympathetic character, with Mufasa revealed as not quite the wonderful King everyone has been led to believe... talk about a feel good adventure, eh?
Barry Jenkins, the Oscar-winning director of Moonlight, taking the help of this prequel is undeniably intriguing, but even if this does exceed expectations, it feels like little more than a cash grab.
