7. IT: Chapter 2

It Chapter 2
Warner Bros.

The horror movie that took 2017 by storm and made Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise an overnight icon, It: Chapter 1 exceeded all expectations by not just being a solid horror movie, but managing to be a surprisingly effective coming-of-age tale too.

The movie was an event, and drew in a massive audience that its modest budget and restrictive rating didn't necessarily indicate it could. As such, hopes are high for the 2019 sequel, as we wait to see if it can strike gold for a second time.

And based on everything we know about it so far, it could easily be even bigger and better than the first. Chapter 1 lacked star power, but Chapter 2 - with James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader included - has it in spades. The same creative team is also returning, and with a bigger budget and more trust from Warner Bros, the crew won't be shackled by any corporate demands or studio interference.

And, of course, Pennywise will be back, and he'll undoubtedly be given another scene-dominating part to play. There's something morbidly intriguing about watching the clown stalk and kill his prey, and the allure of seeing him in action will propel Chapter 2 to the forefront of the pop-culture zeitgeist, just like its predecessor.
