10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Getting Oscar Buzz

8. The Post

There are exactly three reasons why The Post is guaranteed to get Oscar attention this year. The first is that it's a film about intrepid investigative reporters uncovering a major political scandal, a storyline that is probably one of the closest things to a slam dunk that the Academy has, right up there with films about the Holocaust and actresses who bravely get ugly for roles.

The second reason is an actress called Meryl Streep, of whom you may already be familiar with -- she's the one who could probably get an Oscar nomination for reading the nutritional facts off a box of cereal. And the third and final reason is Tom Hanks, who is safe in the way that the Academy likes to be safe, and is quite possibly the most likeable and universally beloved human alive.

That's it. That's all you really need. There's no guarantee that people will see the movie, and there's no guarantee that it will actually be good, but there is a 100% chance that it will be talked about when Oscar season rolls around.
